LOGOS IS BACK! Our children’s favorite program is back in full swing! LOGOS is a fun kid’s program that includes Bible lessons, games, music, and has a themed dinner every Sunday night. All children between Kindergarten and 5th grade are welcome to participate. LOGOS this Sunday (October 1) features a Rodeo theme - why not wear your best cowboy hat, boots or bandana? We start at 4:30 and finish at 6:30. See you there!

HEALTH CARE WORKERS AND FIRST RESPONDERS SALUTE Please help the Presbyterian Women (PW) as we show our appreciation to health care workers and first responders. You can do so by donating individually wrapped snacks, small hand lotions, fun pens, etc. or by contributing money (specify in check memo “Health Care Workers/First Responders”). We will also have some cards at the PW Table in the foyer if you &/or your child would like to write a quick Thank You note. Donations can be dropped off at the PW table, or in the mission box. We will also take a moment to honor these individuals on October 8th. Thank you!

PHOEBE’S FRIENDS “We’ve walked a lifetime in our own shoes. But loving our neighbor as ourselves requires a barefoot moment, a vulnerable stepping out of the known into the unknown…” Lauren Casper, in her book Loving Well In a Broken World, shares her own stories and interactions with others to stress the power of empathy in loving our neighbor well. The Phoebes Friends fall study will explore Lauren’s book alongside passages from Luke and Acts. Copies of the book are available for purchase, or you may choose to order your own copy or the Kindle edition. Phoebe’s Friends gathers each week on Monday mornings from 10 a.m. to 11:30 in the Minter Room. Childcare is available.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT PROGRAM Flavor of Chemistry! Dr. Jemima Ingle will be our next Wednesday Night Speaker on October 4, and we know that you’ll enjoy hearing from her. She’s engaging and incredibly knowledgeable in her field. Jemima’s presentation is entitled “Flavor of Chemistry” What a coincidence it will also be our Wednesday Night Supper sponsored by our M&E Committee! We’ll be eating chili, cornbread, and some tasty desserts. Unlike that time oxygen and potassium went out on a date this coming Wednesday night will be more than OK. Dinner is at 5:45 pm and our program starts at 6:30 pm. Dinner costs $6 per person or $10 for a family. RSVP at the Information Desk or by calling the church office.

FOOD PANTRY NEWS Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise; be thankful unto him and bless his name. -Psalm 100:4
See the lovely banner that our dear Judy Carmichael has created. It should remind us to be thankful for the many blessings in our lives and to generously share with others. It may seem a bit early to be thinking of Thanksgiving, but we have many families for whom we feel called to provide makings for a memorable Thanksgiving meal. We are anticipating the need to purchase at least 60 for each of the 3 weeks in November that the pantry will be open which equates to at least 180 – 200 turkeys. We have a special surprise for those who are willing to donate at least $20 or more toward our purchase. Stay tuned for more information during the month of October.
Today we were blessed to be able to provide food for 54 families including 73 adults, 33 senior adults, and 38 children. Drive by sometime when the pantry is open from 1 – 4 on Tuesdays to see for yourself what a wonderful ministry and heart your church has for your neighbors. We are blessed every time we open the doors. Pray for this ministry. God hears and God provides through you.

BREAKFAST ON BEECH STREET NEWS From January through August, BOBS volunteers have served 11,047 guests a hot breakfast and prepared 20,886 sandwiches for sack lunches.
We still have room for at least three more volunteers. FCPC Thursday teams typically work from 5:00 AM to 7:30 AM once every 4 weeks. Call Dave Nickel at 325-673-8919 to find out more.

KENYA MISSION TRIP A Mission Trip to Kenya, Africa sponsored by First Central Presbyterian Church will be taking place the 15th through the 27th of February, 2024. There will be three areas of work-service: Construction & painting of a classroom at Mother Esther Rescue School, activities with girls at the Mother Esther School, and the Medical Camp. Sunday Morning: Grades 6-12 meet in the Mug Stop for Sunday school from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Grab a donut and join them!
This Sunday, October 1 during Sunday Night Youth is our Blessing of the Animals service. Meet at 4:30 p.m. in the Jesus Garden (park on Orange St. by the playground). Every youth may bring one well-behaved animal, a picture of a pet, or a stuffed animal to be blessed. Dogs must be on leashes, cats in carriers, etc. Parents are welcome to attend the service to help with the pet. They can then take the animal home and pick up youth at 6:30 or stay for dinner and our game (all outside).

FCPC IMPACT - LEUPP PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH First Presbyterian Church of Leupp, Arizona is located on the Navajo reservation north of Winslow. FCPC and the FPC-Leupp have had a long-standing relationship for more than 20 years. Both groups have visited each other on two or more occasions and each year the King David Class oversees the purchase and delivery of gifts for Christmas. The current church building at Leupp was built with some assistance from First Central.
When it was founded in 1912, First Presbyterian Church of Leupp was the first church in its community. Raymond Begay served as the commissioned pastor for many years, along with his wife, Natalie. The elder Begays stepped aside a few years ago and their daughter and son-in-law, Eunice and Calvin Kelly, now lead the congregation.

SANCTUARY AND FOYER FLOWERS The sign-up form for sanctuary and foyer flowers in 2023 is now available! These flowers help decorate our church on Sunday mornings. These flowers are a lovely way to honor or memorialize a loved one. The cost for flowers is $90 which covers both arrangements for the sanctuary. You can come by the church during the week to pick up the flowers if you would like to have them, or volunteers and deacons will deliver them to care facilities. Call the office at 325-677-3501 to find out available dates and make a reservation, or look for the clipboard at the information desk on Sunday mornings.
